Job Opening – Associate Professorship in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Institute for Catalysis (ICAT), Hokkaido University, Japan invites applications for the academic
position of Associate Professor according to the following description:

Catalyst Material Research Division, Department of Fundamental Research
(Prof. Ken-ichi Shimizu)

3.Research Area and Scope of Work
The candidate is requested to conduct research on catalytic material science toward a
creation of new catalytic functions. All associate professors in ICAT are requested to have
abilities as a leader of their own research cluster in the Department of Target Research. The
associate professor will teach at the Graduate School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering.

4.Expected Start Date
July 1, 2016

5.Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D.

6.Documents to Submit
The candidate has to submit both (A) the following documents on A4 paper (or equivalent)
by courier (or registered airmail) and (B) the corresponding one PDF file combining (1) to
(6) below by E-mail.
(1) Curriculum vitae (including picture, date of birth, nationality, current address, contact
information, educational history since high school, degrees acquired, qualifications,
employment history )
(2) Research achievements should be categorized into the following types: a) refereed
original papers, b) patents, c) reviews and commentaries, d) books, e) invited lectures, f)
grants awarded, g) research fields (within two), and h) honors awarded if any.
(3) Brief of research to date (approximately 2,000 words)
(4) Plan for research and education if appointed (approximately 2,000 words)
(5) One recommendation letter or two references (name, institution, tel., E-mail address)
(6) Offprints (three photocopies) of ten representative journal publications.
