Yukata is informal kimono usually made of cotton.

Traditionally in Japan, it is usual to wear yukata next to the skin after taking a bath in summer, but now people wear it just as a summertime casual wear for special events, for example, the the summer festival and the the fireworks show.

When you put on yukata, *hanhaba-obi is tied over the waist, and a pair of geta are put on in the bare foot.

Yukata is the easiest kimono to put on compare to any other kinds of kimono.
So don't be nervous. Let't try on yukata.

浴衣は、夏に着る略式の着物で、木綿で作られています。
昔から入浴後に素肌に着るものでしたが、現代では夏の涼着として、おもに夏祭りや花火大会で着られています。
浴衣を着るときは、半幅帯を結び、素足に下駄を履きます。

着物では一番簡単な着付けです。

浴衣は、布を直線に裁って縫い合わせているので、その着方も洋服とは勝手が違います。
でもポイントさえわかれば帯結びも一人で簡単に締めることができます。
ここでは基本形「文庫結び」を紹介します。

鎌倉から室町時代にかけて、人々は湯沐（ゆあみ）をするときに麻布の湯帷子（ゆかたびら）を着用したといいます。それを略したのが「ゆかた」という言葉です。

江戸時代になると、銭湯風呂が盛んになり、ゆかたは一気に庶民に広がります。
麻布は庶民には贅沢品だったこと、天保の改革で庶民に倹約が強いられたことが、木綿のゆかたが広まる契機になったといわれています。

その後真夏の着物として外出時にも着用されるようになり、現在に至っています。

①　First wrap right side over body then overlap it with the left side　.(1-４）
②　As you hold extra material above your waist, put a cosd around waist below excess material.　(1-６）
③　Bring down all the extra material you kept above the waist to cover the coad.　(1-７.）
④　Tie with the second coad.　(1-８.）
⑤　Completion !

⑥　Fold " te " in two.　Wrap the obi around your waist from front to 　　　　 back twice.　(２-１～２）
⑦　And, tie it.　(２-３）
⑧　Fold " tare " (the rest of the piece) like a folding screen.　(２-４.）
⑨　Wrap the obi like a butterfly.　(２-５.）
⑩　Tuck the end of " te " inside the obi around the waist.　(２-６）
⑪　Turn the whole belt to the right 180 degrees to your back 　　　　　　　　 and make it smooth.　(２-７～８.）
⑫　Finished !
