SANKAR MEENAKSHISUNDARAM

Title of presentation:

Supported Monometallic and Bimetallic Nanoparticles for Catalytic Applications

Dr M. Sankar studied for his PhD (2002–2007) at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, India. From 2007 to 2011 he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Cardiff Catalysis Institute with Prof. Graham J. Hutchings FRS in the area of “Designing gold based bimetallic catalysts for selective oxidation reactions”. After that he moved to Utrecht University after securing the prestigious Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship (IEF) and worked with Prof. Bert M. Weckhuysen (2011-2013) in the area of Biomass Valorisation. Since 2014, he has been working as a University Research Fellow (Independent Group Leader) at the Cardiff Catalysis Institute where he is leading a team of PhD students. His research group focuses on CO2 and biomass valorization, supported nanoalloy catalysts, selective oxidation using O2 or H2O2, selective hydrogenation and in situ spectroscopic studies. He is a (co)author of 43 papers, 2 patents and 2 book chapters.
