Atomic-level visualization and precise control of catalytic/electrochemical reaction processes
~Seeing is believing~
In order to realize the super-smart society required by Society 5.0, we need to achieve highly efficient catalytic reactions that synthesize only desired substances and electrochemical reactions that convert electrical (chemical) energy to chemical (electrical) energy without loss, based on deep understanding and precise control of the surface chemical processes.
In our laboratory, we use advanced surface analysis techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and synchrotron X-ray techniques to visualize catalytic/electrochemical reaction processes at the atomic level. We can elucidate their mechanisms by directly “seeing” the reaction processes, and then obtain a guideline for their precise control.

Recruitment
Takakusagi Laboratory is accepting graduate students. The graduate students belong to the Division of Environmental Materials Science in the Graduate School of Environmental Science. We welcome those who are interested in atomic-level visualization of surface chemical processes and/or development of novel surface analysis techniques. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to visit our laboratory or consider enrollment.
